Stephanie Nicholas is the Shands liaison partnered with Valdosta State University. She currently serves as the Development Coordinator with Shands HealthCare. Stephanie has also been the Children’s Miracle Network Coordinator for Shands Children’s Hospital at UF since 2006.

Alicia Roberson

Alicia Roberson has been at VSU for 11 years, first as a student now as an academic advisor. She works in OASIS Center for Advising and First Year Programs. Her nephew Joshua and niece Ansley were born at 24.5 weeks weighing 1.7 and 1.4 pounds. While visiting them in the hospital, Alicia saw a Children’s Miracle Network tag on the medical equipment keeping Josh alive. They were in the neo-natal unit for five months. They started kindergarten this fall and are playing t-ball and soccer. This is why Dance Marathon for Children’s Miracle Network matters to her. In her free time, Alicia and her husband workout at Crossfit Valdosta. She is also working on her Doctorate of Education in Leadership.

Candace Howard is a Senior at Valdosta State University where she is pursuing a degree in Dance with a minor in Communications.  She currently holds a 3.7 GPA while maintain a very active lifestyle both on and off the VSU campus.  Candace serves as the Overall Chair of the VSU Dance Marathon and the President of the VSU Repertory Dance Club.  She is also a proud member of the Honors Program and Sigma Alpha Phi Honor Society.  She was mostly recently nominated to be the student representative for the VSU College of the Arts Advisory Board.

EboniBaitey is a Senior at VSU pursuing a Masters Degree in Special Education/Early Childhood and a native of Fayetteville, Georgia. Eboni has been involved in Dance Marathon (DM) for two years and she truly believes that DM  is an organization that focuses on giving back to the community. She encourages others to participate in Dance Marathon, because it is truly a life changing event.

Chrishaun Johnson

Chrishaun Johnson  currently attends Valdosta State University as a Junior. She is a double major in Marketing and International Business, with the aspirations of becoming a successful business woman. In addition to  Dance Marathon, Chrishaun is an active member of 3 other organizations on campus, a Resident Assistant with the Housing and Residence Life, and aids Valdosta Community through weekly volunteer service. This is Chrishaun's first year being apart of Dance Marathon, but she personally understands the importance behind helping out the Children’s Miracle Network through her younger brother Demetrius. As a premature newborn, Demetrius was hospitalized for the first 11 months of his life; had a shunt placed in for seizures; and lived for 3 years on the feeding tube. CMN was a major part of Chrishaun’s brother success story. Today Demetrius is an A student and attends Banneker High School in College Park, Georgia.

Amanda Ehlin is a Junior at Valdosta State University majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She currently holds a 3.7 GPA.  She is a proud member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, where she has held many positions such as Leadership Chair, Special Events Chair, Risk Management, etc. Amanda is also very dedicated to her Step Team, which she enjoys doing on her spare time for fun.  Her future aspirations are to attend Southern College of Optometry and  own her own optical practice.

Holly Dickerson is a senior Theatre Performance major originally from Gainesville, GA. Holly plans to graduate with a  BFA in December ’11, and hopes to pursue a career in Theatre Education at a Georgia high school. This has been her first year working with Dance Marathon and Children’s Miracle Network. She has enjoyed working with the other board members in planning for this year’s DM and meeting the miracle families. Seeing how VSU is helping these kids in such a real way has truly been a blessing!


Lacey Harper

Lacey Harper is a senior here at VSU and plans to graduate in May with a BFA in dance. Upon graduation Lacey is looking to move to the Big Apple within a year. She is the Entertainment Chair for Dance Marathon and has previously served as the Dancer Relations Chair. Also, she is currently the VSU Dance Club Vice President and a member of the theatre honor society, Alpha Psi Omega. Children hold a very special place in Lacey's heart and she wishes to give of her time and resources to help the Children's Miracle Network. Lacey believes that Dance Marathon will not only benefit the kids in Shands hospital, but everyone involved. It takes hard work and determination to accomplish something like Dance Marathon, and every task is important. She has gained a variety of knowledge and experience that will help her with future endeavors. For the kids!

A Senior at VSU, Lauren is a double major in Dance and History with plans to attend graduate school for arts management. As a summer intern with the Atlanta Ballet, she gained marketing and public relations experience for a non-profit organization which helped to prepare her for her responsibilities with Dance Marathon. She loves to volunteer and contribute to various worthwhile causes in her free time.

Not only has she gained lasting relationships, but she's also been able to help out the kids! She loves children and cannot wait to work with them in her future career.

Vanessa Monterio is a 21 year old Senior majoring in Early Childhood Education.  This is her 2nd year serving on the Executive Committee for Dance Marathon.  Vanessa is also a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Pi Leadership Organization. Upon graduation she plans on attending California State University in Los Angeles to further education. She aspires to become an Pediatric Occupational Therapist in order to continue influencing and enriching the lives of children.

Kristina Cooper is a Junior Nursing major at Valdosta State University. She is a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority and is also an active member of Greek Ambassadors and Habitat for Humanity on campus. This is her first year being on the Dance Marathon team, where she serves as Family Relations Chair.  She has a big heart for children and finds it very rewarding to be an active member of an organization and campus that contributes to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Mandy Best is a Junior Journalism major. She divides her time between her academics, raising awareness and funds for the Children’s Miracle Network, and as an executive board member for the Student Government Association on campus, where she serves as the Communications Director. Mandy is an avid football fan and loves the Georgia Bulldogs. She also writes sports articles for the VSU school newspaper, “The Spectator,” weekly. She has aspirations of moving to Nashville, TN  and working in public relations as an event coordinator.

Cole Roberts is a Senior Accounting Major at Valdosta State University.  This is his second year serving on the Dance Marathon Execuitve Committee . He also serves on the Executive Board of the Sigma Chi fraternity as treasurer.  He will graduate in May of 2011 with a BBA in Accounting.
